About the PI

Masaru Kuno did his undergraduate studies in chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis. He then earned his PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under Moungi Bawendi in 1998. This was followed by a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship working David Nesbitt and Alan Gallagher at JILA/NIST/University of Colorado, Boulder. Between 2001 and 2003, he worked at the US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC. Dr. Kuno is currently an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame and has research interests in the synthesis of low dimensional materials, their single particle optical microscopy and their use in renewable energy applications.
